Modular Employable Skills


This institution Chandigarh College of Engg. & Tech,. Chandigarh, (Diploma Wing) has been also registered as Vocational Training Provider (VTP) vide registration No. 14010003 and registered with RDAT Faridabad for running the following modular Employable Skills (MES) courses under Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Scheme as on 22/07/2009.
About 500 students have been successfully trained under this scheme in various MES courses such as Basis welding (Arc & Gas), Basic Electrical training, Assistant Plumber, Wood work, Turning, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Basic Electronics & Repair and Maintenance of Cellular phones.
The scheme was held up in year 2011 and has been restarted in year 2013. Presently the following seven MES courses are running in the Institution namely Basic Electrical training, Assistant Plumber, Basic Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Basic Electronics (Repair & Maintenance of Power supply, Inverters & UPS), Basic Wood Work, Basic Welding (ARC). About 118 students are undergoing training in this scheme.
No fund for the initiation of this scheme was received by this institute, but the actual reimbursement of

Training cost and Testing/assessment fee of passed trainees received time to time from RDAT, Faridabad / Directorate, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh.
SDI Scheme is a five year project during which one million persons would be trained or their existing skills tested and certified under Modular Employable Skills (MES) framework.
The main objectives of the scheme are :

  • To impart Skill Development training to the intended target groups.
  • To provide Technical and Support Services to rural masses and slum dweller
